4 FOODS TO INCREASE FERTILITY

Trying to get pregnant is an exciting time in every woman’s life. If you are trying to conceive, there are many options to increase your chances of getting pregnant, including focusing on your diet. The food you consume can have the power to increase fertility. Here are four foods to work into your diet while you are trying to conceive:
1. Full Fat Dairy Products
Skip the skim and head straight for whole milk, the fat content helps with ovulation. Yogurt and ice-cream are other good options.

2. Plant Protein
Protein from plants has been found to be more beneficial to fertility than animal protein, like red meat. Replace the meat with beans, nuts, tofu, peas or soy products while you are trying to conceive.

3. Fresh Fruit and Vegetables
While all vegetables are crucial to a healthy diet, those rich in folic acid, especially citrus fruits, strawberries, mushrooms and spinach, can increase fertility. Adequate folic acid is also important in a pre-pregnancy diet to decrease the risk of birth defects. Fruits rich in vitamins B and C help with improving the chances of conception, as well. A guy can also do his part: fruits and vegetables such as pomegranates and apples can raise the sperm count in men, as do zinc-rich pumpkin seeds. Tomato, asparagus, avocado, pink grapefruit and watermelon increases both sperm motility and count. Bananas can also help increase overall sperm production.

4. Zinc-Rich Foods
Beneficial to both men and women, zinc increases sperm count and sperm tail development which improves motility. It also helps early conception and cell division to establish a pregnancy. To improve your chances of getting pregnant, try including these zinc-rich foods into your diet: crab, nuts, bean seeds and oysters.
